Luke Borg, Diana Muscat take Series Title for 2026

The final race of the Cisk 0.0 Cross Country Series took place at Miżieb on Saturday afternoon under sweltering heat that took its toll on several riders, with Class titles still hanging in the balance and the overall Series winners far from certain going into the day.
ELITE
n the Elite Category, Luke Borg took the lead from the outset, determined to seal the Series title, with Clyve Chetcuti pushing hard throughout in an attempt to deny him the win. Borg, however, kept his composure to cross the line first and claim both the race and the overall Series title. Behind them, Mark Bonnici, Brandon Sultana and Etienne Bonello traded places across the six-lap course in a tight battle for third, with Bonello ultimately claiming the final podium spot.

LADIES
Marie Claire Aquilina, absent for the first two races, pushed to the front of the women's race from the start, but was forced to retire in the second lap. This left Diana Muscat to complete an unbeaten run across the Series and claim the Class title, with Fiona Tedesco taking second place.
SPORT AND AGE GROUPERS
Josmar Vella took the Sport Category race win ahead of Raz Voskoboinik, also claiming the Class title ahead of Keith Bartolo and Roderick Borg.

Alex Portelli, Gordon Zahra and Jamie Camilleri completed the 40+ podium, with Portelli's consistent performances throughout the Series giving him a comfortable lead to take the Class title — the race results mirroring the overall Series standings.
Stephen Grima claimed the 50+ race win despite suffering several punctures, finishing ahead of Carmelo Abela and Domenic Cutajar. However, having missed the first race cost him in the overall standings, with Cutajar taking the Class title ahead of Grima and Abela.

JUNIORS
In the U19 Boys, Ryan Gatt took the race win ahead of Matthias Abela Criminale, and claimed the Series title ahead of Andrea Cassone and Abela Criminale.

Neil Cassar's consistent showing throughout earned him the U17 Boys title, while Katie Anne Vella Wood secured the U17 Girls through an equally steady campaign.

In the U15 Girls, Kim Micallef Cann took two race wins but it was Amy St John who claimed the overall title by virtue of one additional race.

n the U15 Boys, Ethan Cumbo led comfortably, with Zack Saliba and Jake Said close behind — though the final Series classification saw Cumbo, Saliba and Kurt Grech take the top three spots.

Nolan Tabone and Nick Said topped the U12 Boys race, with Tabone winning the overall series. Amy Micallef Cann taking the U12 Girls title.

"We are very happy with the outcome of this year's Series — interesting competition, new faces and younger riders progressing through the ranks, showing real promise for the sport. Thank you to Cisk 0.0 for once again supporting our association," commented Malta Mountain Bike Association President Fiona Tedesco. “The Malta Mountain Bike Association is grateful for the support of Cisk 0.0, the alcohol free award winning lager as well as secondary sponsors Solar Solutions Ltd, and the numerous volunteers who acted as Race Marshalls throughout the race. “
The Malta Mountain Bike Association will be hosting its National Championships on Sunday 19th July.
